A Few Over Creek Farm Horses

Virginia Minstrel

Another one selected and purchased by Gomena, Virginia Minstrel (left) capitalized on winter training in Aiken to break  his maiden at the Carolina Cup Races in early spring and won the Strawberry Hill Classic at Colonial Downs in his next start. Owned by Oakwood Stable, Virginia Minstrel came from Virginian Bill Backer’s potent flat string. He also finished second in the Jonathan Kiser Novice Stakes at Saratoga.

Country Cousin

Purchased off the flat track by Gomena, Country Cousin emerged as one of the sport’s leading novices in 2010, winning the National Hunt Cup at Radnor. A son of Lear Fan, Country Cousin is owned by Oakwood Stable.

Dynantonia

Dynantonia transferred his flat form (he won stakes for trainer George Weaver) to steeplechasing where he won the Grade III Marcellus Frost Stakes at the Iroquois meet. Owned by Gregg Ryan, the son of Dynaformer finished third to eventual champion Slip Away in the Temple Gwathmey.
